Ingredients:
3 cups Bella Grain Homebaking Flour
1 cup warm milk
2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
¼ cup sugar
2 tbsp melted butter or margarine
1 egg
½ tsp salt
Oil for deep frying
Icing sugar or granulated sugar for coating (optional)
Instructions:
1. Activate the Yeast:
In a small bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast.
Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
2. Make the Dough:
In a large bowl, mix Bella Grain Flour and salt.
Add in the yeast mixture, egg, and melted butter.
Knead the dough until soft and elastic (about 8–10 minutes).
Cover and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
3. Shape the Doughnuts:
Roll out the dough on a floured surface to ½-inch thickness.
Cut into circles using a doughnut cutter or glass.
Let them rest for 15–20 minutes to rise slightly again.
4. Fry the Doughnuts:
Heat oil in a deep fryer or pan over medium heat.
Fry doughnuts in batches until golden brown (about 1–2 minutes per side).
Drain on paper towels.
5. Finish and Serve:
Roll warm doughnuts in sugar or glaze as desired.
Enjoy while still fresh and soft!
Tips:
For a flavored twist, add a pinch of nutmeg or vanilla essence to the dough.
